  20. You do need an harddrive for it, no doubt. Almost all software today require
  21. a harddrive. Unfortunately do the A500+ lack harddisk controller, and it don't
  22. accept standard PC controllers. Usually are harddrives for the A500 mounted
  23. in specialdesigned boxes that is plugged into the expansion bus that is located
  24. behind a small lid on the left side of the computer. These boxed fits both the controller and the hardrive (and often some memory expansion).
  25. Unfortunately are these boxes quite expensive, because of the expensiveness
  26. of the required parts and small series (compared to PC clone market).
  27. There is also some packages that require a litttle bit more hardware experience
  28. and involves opening the computer and mount the hardrive inside and plugging
  29. a card between the CPU and the motherboard, but they are quite rare.
  30. Since a stock A500+ only got 1Mb memory do I think he might have to get
  31. some more memory as well, but maybe it can be done without.
  32. The A500's hardware is any many ways obsolete, as you might already have guessed...

  34. The software you will need is a TCP/IP stack, and what 99% of the Amiga
  35. users are using is AmiTCP. There is a free demo version of it available
  36. from anonymous FTP from Aminet (one of these sites is: ftp.doc.ic.ac.uk)
  37. in directory /pub/aminet/comm/tcp . You will also need a script for
  38. dialing the internet provider with, and there are several of those in the
  39. same directory.
